Hello students and families! It is a great benefit of my job that I get to meet so many wonderful new people each year. Here is a little about me and my experience so you can get to know me better, too.
I am a native Idahoan, and live in Boise. My wife is also a teacher, in elementary school. Along with our parents, daughters, friends, and two dogs, we love exploring life in Idaho and beyond. I enjoy hand cycling, archery, pottery, drawing, music, and reading science fiction/fantasy. Of course, I am always looking forward to a school year full of learning adventures. I spend a lot of time outside of school working to make my instruction ever better!
This is my 14th year teaching in the West Ada District. After one year at Sawtooth Middle School, I came to Heritage Middle School. I find great joy in both teaching and learning. I also feel fortunate to be part of the HMS fantastic family-oriented community!
You my be wondering why I am in a wheelchair. In the Fall of 2014, I was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is an autoimmune disease that causes nerve damage. In short, my brain and my body have communication problems. However, I will have not problem communicating and sharing with all of you. MS has taught me to be grateful for each day and what is truly important in my life.
