Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Rita Soltesz

Welcome to a new school year! Here is a little background on me so you can get to know me better.

I was born in Hungary where I started playing the cello at age 7. I continued my studies in a Music Conservatory, and after graduation I have eaned a scholarship to the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria. I was fortunate to study under several well known musicians from the Wienna Philharmonic. I have been a member of several chamber groups and an active performer of Seefestschpiele Morbish, performing famous operetts with the orchestra. In 1996 I have earned my MA in Music/Cello performance and music education.

My life took a sharp turn and led me to move to Idaho. Upon my arrival I have performed with the Boise Philharmonics, several small orchestras and chamber groups. In 2006 I decided to go back to college and earned my MA in the Art of Teaching K-8 with an endorsement in ELL. I have spent 5 years in the Boise School District teaching various levels, and taught 3rd grade for 1 year at St. Mark's School prior to moving to the West AdaSchool  District. I am a current member of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, the Composers Collective  Quartet, and  have an active private cello studio.

I'm raising two boys, ages 16 and 19 that keep my life interesting and busy every day! I am a huge health enthusiest. My hobbies include -besides music- bodybuilding, reading, traveling/camping, and watching my son play football! Yes, that is a real hobby :-)

I'm looking forward to get to know all my students on a personal level as much as possible, so I can address their educational needs the most beneficial way!

I'm excited to see them grow musicially and become part of my musical-family!
