Degrees and Certifications:
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new orchestra director for Chief Joseph! It has long been a dream of mine to teach in the classroom, and I couldn't have hoped for a better group of students to be in front of.
Growing up in a family of musicians, 7 of whom are teachers, I was encouraged into the family business at a young age. I started choir at 6 and string bass at 11, and pursued both through college. My performance experience led me around the country and around the world, participating in national choirs and orchestras, and touring through Europe with my high school Chamber Orchestra. My first teaching experience was as a private bass instructor starting at 15, which I have continued ever since. I attended Central Washington University where I studied choir, orchestra, and jazz. I was co-director of the Yakima Valley Youth Symphony for 2 years, and graduated in 2011 with a degree in bass performance. I continued to teach private lessons and perform in Seattle and Portland over the next few years, and made my way back to Boise in 2014 where I began subbing in music classrooms, particularly orchestra.
I stay active with teaching private lessons, performing with a jazz and rock group, and of course enjoying my first year of classroom teaching at Chief Jo. I look forward to enabling these young artistic minds through their own musical journey.
