Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Mike Matson
This is my first year teaching Fourth Grade and I am thrilled to be teaching at Peregrine Community School with a wonderful team.
My wife and I both graduated from Concordia University in Portland, OR in 2004 where I received a B.A. in Education. My wife was from Idaho, so after we graduated and got married we moved back to her home state. I also recently finished a Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University. I have a daughter who is in 5th grade and a son in 3rd grade.
Outside of school I love reading, exercising, DIY projects at home, basketball, golf, hiking, and playing with my kids. I have a dog named Rocket who is a Boxer/Lab mix which my family adoringly calls a “Boxador”. We can often be found walking together at the park in the evenings.
Everyday is a chance to learn something new. I encourage all my students to have a growth mindset- which means that we try hard things, grow with others, and never give up.
