    I hope everyone was able to take some time the last few weeks to rest, do some mental health care and are coming back ready to virtually learn!

    I do understand that virtual learning has its challenges and we are going to work with what we have to make this the best situation that we can. If you have any ongoing internet issues or other problems that pop up please let me know asap. If you still need a laptop or a hotspot we need to know asap.

    As you probably know, all grades were frozen on March 13th. If you are happy with the grade you had at that point, you do not need to do anything at this time (March 13th – April 24th). If you want to improve your grade, now is your opportunity to complete or re-do. If there is an “M” for missing in your PowerSchool you have the opportunity to redo that assignment to improve your grade. Please look at your grades for your classes in PowerSchool. Determine which classes you want to work in to improve your grade. Decide which assignments to work on. You have until April 24th to complete and submit those assignments to your teacher in order to improve your grade in any class.

    I will be using Microsoft Teams and CodeHS to deliver and collect assignments and to communicate with you about my classes. All of you should be familiar in how to access MSTeams and how to sign into your account for my CodeHS classes. If you have any questions or issues please send me an email and I will try and help.

    If you have any other questions during the initial remote learning phase from April 13th - April 24th please feel free to email me. As we prepare for the launch of remote learning on Monday, April 27th, I wanted to clarify some information to all of you so that you know how to submit an assignment.  As a reminder, if you turn in any of your missing past assignments, please send me an email letting me know to go back into Teams and grade those for you and get them into PowerSchool.

    April 27th Remote Learning or Online Classroom Expectations:

    Students will treat virtual learning as a classroom setting. Students will be ready and prepared to learn once logged in.

    All of my class information can be found under the Centennial High School REMOTE LEARNING link under CTE

    Students should have all necessary materials needed for their virtual classroom. Please login and focus on the lesson assigned. Online learning has more distractions than classroom learning and will occur in shorter lengths of time.

    Students should create a learning environment at home with a table or desk, computer, and available space to work. Any textbooks/notebooks should remain available and open to reference or write upon.

    Other devices or recordings should not be used while in the virtual classroom. This is to protect everyone's privacy.

    Be patient and courteous.

     Important Considerations for Students in Online Meetings when Necessary:

     

    • All school rules also apply online. Make sure you follow school guidelines, especially regarding cyberbullying and non-discriminatory behaviors and comments while working digitally.

     

    • Be respectful of school hours. I am available during the day through email and from 1:00pm to 2:30pm, which are my designated office hours.

     

    • If and when we have online meetings, wear school appropriate clothes when visible on video.

     

    • Practice good social skills online. Be as polite and respectful towards others as you would in a face to face meeting.
    • Use the chat box appropriately during the meeting. This can be used to ask questions or clarifications, which may be especially important for your teacher to see. The chat box should be used for academic purposes only; be considerate with what you post, but always ask questions if you have them.

     

    • Be mindful of the surrounding environment. Don’t include items in the background that are not appropriate to be seen by others during school.

    • Don’t have several programs running while you are in an online meeting. Close all unnecessary applications during your meeting to best utilize your computer’s power.

     

    • STUDENTS/PARENTS: Please DO NOT POST PICTURES of the virtual classroom sessions on social media or RECORD any of the video sessions without teacher and/or student permission. This is a violation of student privacy.

     

    • We will have class as set up by the Administration.
