Lottery and Placement Procedures

  • Elementary Schools of Choice:

Online applications must be completed by the due date in order to be considered on time. If more students apply than seats are available at any School of Choice in any grade level, then students will be selected by random lottery. The order in which each school's lotteries are drawn is randomly selected and changes yearly. Applicants should be aware that they can only be drawn for one lottery. Once an applicant is drawn in a lottery, they are removed from any lotteries that are to follow. Applicants will be notified by email of the results of the lottery in late February.
For more information, please access our Schools of Choice Procedures policy.

    Idaho Fine Arts Academy (IFAA):

IFAA is an arts-based School of Choice that is filled via audition only. For more information, please access our IFAA Procedures document as well as the additional information located on the IFAA website regarding the audition process.

    Gifted and Talented Program:

The Self-Contained Gifted/Talented Program application is a separate process from the other applications and will be available after attendance boundaries are finalized. The Self-Contained Program is only open to those students who already qualify for G/T services. If your son or daughter qualifies for this program, you will be notified via email when that application is available for the next school year. Contact the district GT Coordinator for further details. Applying for a School of Choice does not preclude you from also applying to a  Self-Contained G/T Program (and vice versa).
