Degrees and Certifications:
“One does not need to have any formal knowledge of music – nor, indeed, to be particularly ‘musical’- to enjoy music and to respond to it at the deepest levels. Music is part of being human, and there is no human culture in which it is not highly developed and esteemed.”
- Oliver Sacks (1933-2015)
I am beginning my sixth year as the vocal music teacher at IFAA. In addition to teaching the middle and high school vocal majors, I also teach 6th grade general music/keyboarding, piano lab, and our music theater class.
I received my BA in Choral Conductirng from California State University, Fullerton, and my MA in Music Education from Boise State University. I have served as the assistant conductor of Seattle Pro Musica and as assistant conductor with the Seattle Symphony Chorale. I gained invaluable experience in the many vocal studios in southern California and the Seattle area where I've worked, and also as a singer with the Pacific Chorale, the Seattle Symphony Chorale, Choral Arts (Northwest), the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale. I currently sing with Critical Mass in Boise.
My husband is a teacher as well at Sage International School in Boise. We have 2 sons, one of whom is married and has given us 2 dear granddaughters.
I spent my summer in the garden which is my sanctuary. We are growing our bird habitat and have welcomed hummingbirds this summer. I love to be outside with our dog Lily.
IFAA is an amazing place, and I am very fortunate to have students who are passionate about what they do. I look foward to being here each and every day.
