I fell in love with reading the day I first discovered Nancy Drew.  I remember that summer well.  I read over 30 books.  As I got to know Nancy and her friends, Bess and George, I was driven to know what happened next. I would flip the pages as quickly as I could because someone was in trouble and I had to find out how it was all going to end. That summer, with the help of Nancy Drew, I discovered how much pleasure there was in reading.

I am an avid reader to this day.  No matter what is going on in my life it all slips away when I lose myself in a great story.  Mystery and fantasy are my two favorite genres.  I often have several books on my nightstand that I am reading. I just finished a wonderful book by Kate DiCamillo called Flora and Ulysses and am currently reading Crenshaw (by Katherine Applegate), For the Love of Mike (a mystery set in the early 19th century by Rhys Bowen), and the Cormoran Strike Series by Robert Gailbraith (aka JK Rowling.) I love Harry Potter and have read the series many times.  Following Harry on his first train trip to Hogwarts is like going home to visit an old friend.

I love getting lost in a good book and it is my fondest hope that I can introduce the students at Summerwind to the joy of reading so they too can meet new friends and take off on wonderful adventures.
