• Dear Parents,

We made it through the first week of school and we are off to a great start!

    This Week:

We have spent the week getting to know each other and getting familiar with student progress in reading, writing and arithmetic.  We have also started learning and practicing cursive.  At this point we have only covered the letters, i, t, u, and w.    The students are excited to learn cursive.  😊

Homework starts today.  I am sending the homework assignment home with your child today.  It is very basic.  Homework runs from Friday to Friday.

The first homework assignment is due back on Friday September 6.

    1. Read for 20 minutes at least 5 nights a week

There is a Reading Log that will need to be filled in daily.

    1. Practice math facts

This week students should practice double addition facts through 10.

    1. On the back of the homework sheet is a reading comprehension page.

This page can count as one night’s reading.

    1. Please sign the homework sheet after the work has been completed

Your child should also be bringing home a “Tips for Parents” handout.  This handout is intended to illustrate what we will be covering in our first math unit starting next week.

    Have a great long weekend,

    Sharon Price
