What is the GT Mathematics Curricula?
The purpose of this curricula is to provide exposure and exploration using mathematics in the areas of problem-solving strategies, critical and creative thinking skills, and process analysis.
Idaho Core Anchor Standards serve as a foundation for this curricula. Mathematics is the lens through which the above concepts are addressed (problem-solving strategies, critical and creative thinking skills, and process analysis). In GT Mathematics the focus is on exposure to many topics, relevant vocabulary, and methods. Additionally, algebraic thinking is imbedded throughout the curricula. Mastery of mathematical concepts is addressed in and reported out through the general education classroom.
Core Texts and Resources
Given the nature of this curricula, texts and resources are varied. Facilitators use supplemental materials, hands-on activities and strategic games, videos and multi-media devices, puzzles, mathematical tools, and internet resources. Each GT Center can provide a list of the curricular materials they use.
