Mr. Brian Fischer

I am an educator of 19 years and have taught third, fourth, and sixth grades. I believe that learning starts with a strong learning community with a room filled with teachers. Collaboratively the students and I assist each other in learning. Also, the ability for students to be lifelong independent learners is critical to their future because it will help them adapt to our ever-changing world.

Student based project learning and the integration of technology is a key component of our classroom. We are a one to one device classroom where we use a variety of software, apps, and tools to interact with information and synthesize knowledge to create authentic examples of our learning. You can view some of these activities http://www.youtube.com/user/ehroom16 or check out the student projects on www.westada.org/brianfischer .

Professionally, I enjoy promoting the use of technology among colleagues to create engaging and meaningful learning in the classroom. I have accomplished this by being our building digital integration lead, teaching at district tech expos, and sharing with public stakeholders through newspaper articles and our West Ada Educational Foundation.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife Carrie and our son Owen.  My hobbies include mountain biking and whitewater rafting. I have traveled to 48 of the 50 states and look forward to seeing Delaware and Alaska in the future.
