Mr. Black (Coach)
I was raised in a small town 20 miles south of Sacramento, Galt, CA. After serving 2 years on a church mission in Baltimore, Maryland, I came to Idaho in 1999 to attend school/play football at Rick's College, now BYU-Idaho.
I loved Idaho so much, that after college graduation in 2004 I accepted my first job here in Meridian! I have officially lived in Idaho longer than California. ;-)
I have a passion for teaching, Physical Education, Health, and most of all my students. Students are the best part of my job and why I became a teacher.
I strive to be a good example to students by working towards living a happy, healthy, and active lifestyle, I love to help and encourage others to do the same.
I am a life long learner as I have earned a MA in Curriculum and Instruction, and E.dS. in Educational Leadership, and I am currently working on earning a Masters Degree in Counseling as well as interning as a clinical counselor.
My daily goal is to get students moving and help them to develop a love for physical activities that will last for the rest of their lives.
I love spending quality time with my family and friends, eating yummy food, going to the movies, hiking, swimming, working in my yard, lifting weights, reading a book, and of course playing with my kids. I also love to travel and had the chance to spend a week in London, England in Jan of 2020.
Fitness is a huge passion of mine! I have worked as a personal trainer, a professional fitness athlete for Axis Labs and I worked on various projects with Bodybuilding.com. I have competed as a classic physique athlete and I love to lift weights and jog on the treadmill.
Last but not least, the most important thing to me, my family!
I have four sons and one daughter. Kael, Jett, Jake, Jaxyn, and Kameron and one Olde English Bulldog Piper who also acts as a therapy dog to those who have experienced trauma.
