Hi! My name is Kathy Comstock, and I welcome you to our Seven Oaks Gifted and Talented Center. I’m looking forward to another exciting year of educational adventures with the creative, talented, and inventive young students who attend our GT classes. Their unique interests and curious nature constantly inspire me to seek new challenges for them to investigate. It is my belief that an active, hands-on approach to learning is the most effective way to engage students in their education.
My teaching career began 23 years ago with the West Ada School District. For eight years I taught 4th grade in the general education classroom. After earning my Gifted and Talented Endorsement, I spent ten years teaching the 4th grade self-contained GT class at Andrus Elementary. Four years ago, I accepted my facilitator position in the pull-out program here at Seven Oaks Elementary.
I am the proud of mother of two amazing sons and grandma to three beautiful grandchildren who often live abroad. To spend time with them, I’ve become a bit of a world traveler. In addition to exploring the beautiful country of Germany, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Venice, Rome, Prague, and Kyrgyzstan. While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experiences visiting these wonderful sites, my very favorite memories are of the times I spend playing with my sweet grandchildren.
In my spare time, I’ve developed a passion for road biking with my husband. We’ve enjoyed many epic journeys over the past few years. Some of our more memorable rides include the Seattle to Portland 204 mile trek, a scenic ride through Arches National Park, and America’s Greatest Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe. Bicycling across some of the Northwest’s most scenic regions has been a thrilling experience. We hope to add some New England and European rides in the future!
