• Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome you and your child to the 2019-2020 school year! I have been very busy getting the room ready and preparing for a great year in 5th grade. I can’t wait to get started. There are a couple of things you could do to help me in making this an awesome year for all of us, especially your child.

I just wanted to take the time to go over some things you will want to know about.

Students may bring in a healthy snack (no candy, soda) for snack. I trust students in 5th grade to make good choices when to eat them and we have discussed this in class. Also, please no raisins as they will get into the carpet and make a mess.

Homework will be focusing on reading this year. The main expectation is 20 minutes of reading a night. A reading log will go home soon that parents/guardians will be required to check off on. If they or you want extra work for them to be doing, there will be a menu of choices for them to choose from for extra credit.

Feel free to email or call me with questions and concerns. My information is at the bottom of this newsletter. To help with classroom communication, I really need emails from families so if you haven’t updated Powerschool or haven’t gotten it to me, please do so on the card provided.

    Parent Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer just send me an email with what you would like, or be willing, to do. We can go from there.

I have a pretty extensive library that has all kinds of titles to choose from. If there is a topic you would prefer them not to read (IE: Harry Potter) please have a conversation with your child and help them to make a good choice that respects your wishes.

Here are some upcoming dates to remember:

Monday, September 2nd – Labor Day No School

Wednesday, September 9th - Ultimate Activity Fair

Thursday - Friday, October 10th-11th - Inservice No School

Thursday, October 17th - School Pictures

    Thursday - Friday, October 24th-25th - Conferences

Getting a good nights sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and arriving on time help students get off to a good start. Thanks for helping your child be prepared for fifth grade! I can’t wait!!!
