Welcome to 6th grade general music!
Sounds kind of boring doesn't it? Well, it's not. In our class we will be learning about music that is brand new, and music that is really really old.
How old you ask? How about a piece of music almost 3500 years old?
The Oldest Known Melody (Hurrian Hymn no.6 - c.1400 B.C.)
If newer style instruments (1800's and beyond) are what you're looking for then try this Interactive orchestra! Each instrument has a link that will take you to an interview and performance for that instrument.
Now if you're wondering how these instruments are made, or why they sound they way that they do, then head over to the sidebar where you will find "How instruments are made"
In class, we will be not just be studying instruments, but making them. We may even invent a new instrument no one has ever thought of before! New instruments are being invented all the time, check out "Unusual musical instruments" or "Music in Nature" on the side bar if you don't believe me.
And of course we will be continuing to build your singing, dancing, and playing skills.
Have fun, ask questions, discover answers, and then tell the rest of us what you found!
