• Positive Behavior Intervention Class- PBI

    Class Overview: The goal of the PBI class is to support students socially, emotionally, behaviorally and academically. Each week, students will have a behavior focus and will participate in activities that help them understand and practice those skills. Room104 will also utilize yoga and other mindfulness practices to help students learn self-regulation and calming techniques.  


    Social Skills Curriculum:   WhyTry?  

    The WhyTry Program is a resilience education curriculum that provides simple, hands-on solutions for dropout prevention, violence prevention, truancy reduction, and increased academic success.

    Class Schedule: 


    Behavior Graphs 

    Students will review their weekly behavior sheets from the previous week, calculate scores and graph their averages. Sheets will be e-mailed home to parent/ guardian for review.  


    Social skills Lesson/ Activity: 

    Skill/concept is presented during social skill instruction. 



    Study Hall- Math Focus 

    Students will have study hall time in PBI class to work on math homework, re-do low grade assignments or tests. PBI staff member may also re-teach math concept to students to check for understanding.  



    Study Hall- English/Science Focus 

    Students will work to complete English/science assignments or homework. Students can also re-do low grade tests and quizzes.  


    Students may also elect to complete assignments from other classes. 



    Social Skills Lesson/ Activity: 

    Students will continue with weekly social skill topic. Students may have discussions, collaborative project or another classroom activity.  



    Team Building Activity: 

    Students will have time to finish social skills activities from this week. They may also practice skills via a teambuilding activity, board game or another planned event.
