Mrs. Julie Miller

I am very excited to return to teaching English at Meridian Academy.  This is my fourth year here and I have enjoyed each and every day.  The longer I am at the school, the more blessed I feel.

I am from San Diego, born and raised there, but I have lived in Idaho for over 20 years. I am a graduate of beautiful San Diego State University.  I have three talented children. My eldest is in his first year of college, my middle graduates high school this year, and I have one in middle school. I have also been married now for over two decades.  Our dog is now three, cute as a button and just as naughty. She is a small dog and is trying to figure out how to get up on the counter to eat our food.

When I relax, I tend to read, walk, mountain bike, watch movies. I am so thankful to return to the movies! I did go see Dune, which is now one of my favorites. I have a renewed passion for the mystery genre. I did complete The Secret Life of Miss Mary Bennet, Eight Perfect Murders, and am in the middle of We Are All the Same in the Dark. There is a new book out I want, Every Vow You Break. I am also currently reading through the bible. Right now I am studying the Old Testament. Of course, I am always reading Buffy fanfiction (still a secret obsession).

On the days I am truly relaxing, I will pull out a 500-700 piece puzzle to finish. I don't do 1000 piece puzzles. They are confusing, and my children will take off with pieces so I am left with an incomplete puzzle, which is just wrong.

Sky diving is a true obsession. I want to go more often than the yearly I have started. My second time was this past July. I am truly hooked!

I love teaching ELA, forever changing and flowing, new stories and new experiences to share. With our school, I am enjoying the many different paths students can take to complete their work and show off their skills. The fact that there is no more "one way" is soothing to me. ELA should never be rigid. We aren't math!

If you read this, come see me. I will give you candy. First one to see me this year will get an extra big candy bar!

I truly look forward to making this the best year ever.
