    Beginning of the year information:

The start of the 2020-2021 school year is rapidly approaching.  There are a lot of unknowns about this school year and I will keep you updated as soon as I have accurate information.

This section of my website will be updated regularly so please check back often.  Here is some information you might find helpful as you get your first grader ready.

     1.  The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th.

     2.  Strongly Suggested Items for 1st Grade:

      A)  Plastic Pencil Box.  Please no cloth pencil pouches as they aren't big enough to hold supplies.  It should be large enough toh old one box of crayons, 2 pencils, glue stick, scissors, 1 highlighter and 1 dry erase marker.  I will store extra supplies and distribute them as needed.  Here is an example of one that fits great inside our desks:  Pencil Box

     B)  A water bottle that does not leak.  The classroom drinking fountain will not be used for an undetermined amount of time.  The kids will keep their water bottles in their cubbies and use them as needed.  I have also seen ideas of ways to attatch an item to the desk leg to hold the water bottle.  I'm looking into adding this onto each desk.  In order to prevent spills, it would be ideal if there was a straw and not a large opening.  Example:  Water Bottle with Straw

     C)  Extra Masks. Please consider putting one or two extra masks in your child's backpack in case theirs gets lost, dirty, etc.

     3. I will need to know how your child will be getting home every day.

If they will be riding a bus, I need to know their bus number so I can get them on the correct bus during the first week of school. If they have older siblings at Galileo and will be meeting up with them to walk home or find their ride, please consider designating a meeting spot for all the kids.  In the past, many siblings met at the flag pole.

I look forward to meeting you and your first grader very soon!  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
