Idaho Latino Scholarship

  • Qualifications

    • Submit a complete application packet by January 31, 2021
    • Must be in good standing and making satisfactory progress (as formally defined by the institution) toward the student’s program objective (degree, diploma, or certificate)
    • Must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5 and above
    • Be a high school student in Idaho and/or be attending an institution (university, college, vocational/technical or other) in Idaho for undergraduate studies
    • Have demonstrated leadership in school, community and/or other service organizations that promote, enhance or strengthen diversity
    • Live in Idaho and be of Hispanic/Latino descent

    In addition to completing all questions on the online ILSF Scholarship Application, applicants must upload/attach the following documents (PDF format) to their application:

    • Personal Statement (biography)
    • Resume (list of accomplishments/brag sheet)
    • Scholarship essay answering one of four questions listed on the ILSF Scholarship Application
    • High school or college transcript
    • Two letters of recommendation submitted through https://www.idaholsf.com/letters/
    • Completed FAFSA showing Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)

    Write a three to five-page essay, double-spaced, 12-point font on one of the following subjects. Please include the question in your essay

    • What can be done to motivate more Latino students to attend college?
    • Who has been a role model for you and why?
    • If you had the power to change your school in a positive way, what specific changes would you make?

    Processing of Applications:

    • Completed applications are due by January 31, 2021
    • All application will be reviewed by the ILSF Scholarship Committee
    • Applications will be scored based on the following criteria:
      • Quality of essay
      • Academic achievement
      • Demonstrated leadership qualities
      • Involvement in service to school, community, family
      • Financial need
    • Finalists will be required to conduct an interview with the scholarship selection committee
    • All scholarship winners will be notified by email or phone call
    • Scholarship recipients will be invited to attend a recognition luncheon with the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in June
