ELD Program Models
Students who are new to the country within two years and are at the beginning levels of English receive additional classes in English as well as content classes taught by a certified English Language teacher.
Sheltered Content Instruction
Students at the Newcomer centers at Centennial High or Lewis and Clark Middle receive some of their content instruction (i.e. math, science, social studies) by an endorsed English as a New Language certified teacher.
Students who have proficiency scores above 4.0 on the Access 2.0 receive their instruction by a mainstream general education teacher. These students have English Language Plans that are monitored by the EL case manager at the school.
English Language Development
Students who have proficiency scores below a 4.0 on the Access 2.0 receive additional Core English classes taught by a certified teacher endorsed in English as a New Language.
