    Today we are starting a new unit: History of the Earth.   The students will complete a WebQuest on Fossils.  This will introduce them to different types of fossils and how they are formed.

    Today the students will take their unit test on Surface processes.  When students finish their tests, they can work on any missing assignments that they still have due. Today is the last day of the unit so it is the last day to hand in missing assignments as well.

    Today, we looked at comparing and contrasting mechanical weathering and chemical weathering.   The students also worked on their unit review for the test on Wednesday.   The review sheet and answers can be found under the class handouts tab.

    Today we will complete our weathering lab.  Through this lab, students will investigate the processes of mechanical and chemical weathering. In the lab, students will first explore the abrasion of sugar cubes and then explore the effect of surface area and temperature of weathering. 

    We will have a unit test on 3/11.  This test will cover rocks, the rock cycle, erosion and deposition, and weathering.

    Today the students took notes on weathering and read an article on weathering.  We then had a four-corners activity in which the students worked in group to answer questions pertaining to the text while moving around the classroom.  

    We will have a unit test on 3/11.  This test will cover rocks, the rock cycle, erosion and deposition, and weathering.

    Today the students demonstrated their understanding of the rock cycle for a grade through an interactive online assignment.  After that, the students were introduced to Erosion and Deposition. Students took notes and watched videos about the impacts of erosion and deposition.

    Today students will test their knowledge of the rock cycle through an escape room.  A series of rock cycle-related puzzles will be presented to the students.  The group that is fastest in solving all the puzzles will get to open the treasure box and discover their prize.

    Today we will continue exploring the rock cycle and the processes within the rock cycle.   We will execute our Rock Cycle Lab in which students will model the different steps of the rock cycle.   The students will be given time in class to complete the lab and conclusion questions. The lab report will be due on Thursday 2/27.     There will also be time given to work on the Rock Cycle project that was started last class.

    Today we started our unit on Surface processes.  The students took notes on the different types of rocks and the rock cycle.  The students then started working on their rock cycle project.  This project will be due on Thursday 2/27

    The first 20 minutes of class will be designated for discussing the assessment review sheet and answering any questions students may have before taking the test.   The rest of the period the students will work on their test.  

     

    Today is the last day that any missing materials and assignments for this unit can be handed in unless otherwise discussed between the student and me.
