Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
At Christine Donnell School of the Arts we are dedicated to supporting students' social and emotional needs. Through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) we help students learn how to manage their emotions and self-regulate in times of stress and crisis. SEL is taught through the use of the Zones of Regulation and Toolbox cohesively in classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling.
Zones of Regulation
Within Zones of Regulation, students learn self-regulation by identifying ways they feel and states of alertness they experience in the four colored zones. Students become more aware in their ability to control their emotions and impulses and problem solve conflicts.
The Toolbox is a research-based social/emtional learning curriculum. It teaches critical social competencies necessary for academic and life success such as: resiliency, self-management, empathy, and responsible decision-making skills.
