The Star MS Beginning Band program offers the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, and Percussion. Introduction videos on each instrument can be found below. Even if you know the instrument that you want to play, it is always a good idea to watch ALL the videos to have your best informed choice.

- Students in beginning band typically start on a Baritone instrument and advance to a Euphonium instrument later in their musical career. There is no huge difference in how the instrument is played.
Percussion (Mallets and Snare Drum) - 1 min. 55 sec.
- Percussionists are a key part to the band! Students interested in percussion must understand they will be playing mallet instruments (alongside a large variety of other instruments) throughout their whole time as a percussionist. The bell set will be played a lot during the first year of band (shown in the picture below). There is a cap on how many percussionists will be accepted into the program. Mr. Barro will let you know once that cap has been reached.
