• Creativity Workshops

Creativity can be defined in many ways. A common framework for creative thinking includes four key features: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. We will look closely at each of these four elements during our workshop lessons (six in all).

Creativity is FUN, but is it also important! Divergent thinking increases a student’s desire to learn and supports intellectual development. When we encourage creative thinking, we promote student engagement, motivation, and love for learning.

When incorporated into instruction, creative thinking can:

    o Increase interest and motivation

    o Improve attitude toward school

o Nurture effective problem solving skills

o Encourage multiple perspectives and points of view

o Help students understand familiar things in new and deeper ways

o Promote questioning, curiosity, and innovation
