• Hi Husky families,

First and foremost, we hope you are all safe and healthy. These circumstances are unusual, unpredictable, and leave us all with a lot of questions and not as many answers. We hope that you can find comfort and support knowing that we are walking this with you.

The HMS Administration has sent out information regarding the remote learning plan. We wanted to reiterate that the counseling staff remains available to you and your students while you navigate this new way of learning. There will no doubt be moments of motivation, engagement, and connection to learning. Alongside this, we anticipate feelings of anxiety, worry regarding grades, concern about the transition to high school, missing social connections, and countless other emotions. These are all expected and normal. We encourage you and your students to lean into your emotions and have the courage to talk through what your kids might be feeling and experiencing. The power of acknowledgment, encouragement, validation, and listening can be invaluable right now.

If you and your family are facing economic hardship in these circumstances and are in need of any resources, please contact any of the HMS counselors for assistance. We are working closely with community agencies, district social workers and other counselors in West Ada to continue to serve our families. Additionally, many counselors in the Treasure Valley are providing telehealth services and we are happy to help you connect your child to them if needed. We will also keep our website up to date with resources, so please check there for information as well. HMS Counseling Website, Remote Learning page: https://www.westada.org/Page/76135

Starting on Monday, April 13th we will each be holding daily office hours. These are posted on our website and listed below. Email is the best means of communication at this time, as we are practicing social distancing and working from home, but we can also reach out via phone if that is more convenient for you.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions, concerns or if we can provide any academic or social/emotional help to your students. We miss our students tremendously and can’t wait for our halls to be full of students again. Stay healthy, stay safe, and please tell your students how much they are missed!

    Thank you,
