    Week Seven: 25 - 31 May 2020 UPDATE!!

Mr. Housel has set up a “Dear Evan Hansen” Microsoft Teams meeting for this Thursday, 28 May, at 12:00 p.m. Look for an email from Mr. Housel for bonus content and instructions on how to join the meeting.

This should be a lot of fun. Make sure to join the meeting if you can!

    Week Seven: 25 - 31 May 2020

These instructions do not supercede those found in Microsoft Teams; they merely provide an alternative method to acquire resources and instructions needed to complete assignments.

    To do this week:

IF YOU HAVE NOT PASSED PHOTOSHOP ACA EXAM: Review Photoshop tutorials and the ACA Test Prep website materials for Photoshop. Prepare to re-take the ACA test toward the end of next week.

IF YOU HAVE PASSED PHOTOSHOP ACA EXAM: Review inDesign tutorials and the ACA Test Prep website materials for inDesign. Prepare to re-take the ACA test toward the end of next week.

When you are ready, let me know quickly. I have to request a specific day and time for your exam. You will take the exam at home! You don’t need Photoshop or inDesign at home, they are included in the testing window.

Certiport requires a couple days of lead time. So choose a day and time where you won’t be distracted, and your home WiFi will be robust enough to support you taking the exam.

    Due: 31 May 2020, 11:59 p.m., before the beginning of Week 8.

    Week Four: 04 - 10 May 2020

These instructions do not supercede those found in Microsoft Teams; they merely provide an alternative method to acquire resources and instructions needed to complete assignments.

GOOD NEWS!!! The 24 April deadline has been extended to 15 May. That should take some of the pressure off. Yea for us! But, we still need to move forward, and, as always, communication is key.

Continue to work on and finalize the layout on previous week’s assigned page.

If you've completed that, begin work to complete a second assigned page.

Identify missing resources and communicate that need to fellow team members most in position to aid in acquisition.

Communicate status regularly. Communicate any and all technical glitches and hurdles to ensure timely fixes.

    Due: 10 May 2020, 11:59 p.m., before the beginning of Week 5.

    Week Three: 27 April - 01 May 2020

In the past few days, we at IFAA have been blessed to spend a couple hours in Teams meetings with Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer, two professional musicians (primarily cello and percussion respectively) who have guested at IFAA and worked with our students.

It was refreshing to hear their music and camaraderie, but mostly to hear from them about how they are dealing with being creative artists during these trying times. What came through so clearly was that, while it has been and still is a struggle, the two take solace in their own art—each day—and find ways to explore the creative edges of this situation. Eggar relayed a story about an individual student of his who made a bit of a breakthrough in improvisation because they were separated and virtually conducting their lesson.

The takeaway? While this situation is hard, it is not hopeless. The current coach of my beloved NBA Phoenix Suns, Monty Williams, has said, "Everything you want is on the other side of hard." Embrace these days and these struggles and find ways, each day, to feed the artist within; don't lose touch with that. The artist in you is why you are at IFAA and why all of us go to work each day on your behalf.

All that being said, this week's assignment is merely to touch base with previous assignments and try to have some fun with completing them.

Unlike your other classes, Yearbook has a high profile on campus and many look to us to complete what we started, even during these stressful times. The GOOD NEWS this week is that, as of this writing, the majority of design and layout is done. What is left to be completed are your individual pages. Don't think you're on your own or trying to do this alone. Now that much of the administrative work of grades layouts and seniors and covers and title pages is done, you should have some help. So, ask for help if you need it and let's work together to finish this book!

CRITICAL NOTE: DO NOT violate social distancing/quarantine protocols to complete this assignment.

Complete work and finalize layout on previous week’s assigned page.

Begin work to complete other assigned pages.

Identify missing resources and communicate that need to fellow team members most in position to aid in acquisition.

    Communicate status regularly.

Communicate any and all technical glitches and hurdles to ensure timely fixes.

Your posts and replies will be viewable by all members of the team.

Continue to work on and finalize the layout on previous week’s assigned page.
