“Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are.” -Mason Cooley

Hello and welcome! My name is Madison Hartwell and I will be teaching Middle School Language Arts. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre, and Master of Arts in Teaching both from The College of Idaho, and I am so excited to be starting a new journey at Idaho Fine Arts Academy.

I love to spend my summers at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival working in the box office or house managing. When I am not working I enjoy spending time at my family cabin and going on hikes with my fiancé and our dog, Kai.

My masters degree thesis focused on developing a love for reading outside of school, and plenty of research has shown that the more students read in their own time (any kind of reading!) the more successful they are likely to be in all subject areas of school. My class will focus on giving students the skill set and confidence to be successful readers and writers, but we will also have many opportuinities to explore what kinds of books interest us!

All assignments, due dates, and activities will be posted on Microsoft Teams this year.
