Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Courtney Parker, and this will be my seventh-year teaching. I am excited to be a pronghorn and am eager to get to know your child.
I graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies along with my Teaching Credential. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Educational Leadership at The University of Idaho and will be graduating in Spring of 2021. I began my teaching career in Southern California, where I taught 1st-3rd. I then moved to Idaho in 2013 and taught 3rd and 4th at Desert Sage Elementary in the West Ada School District. I was awarded Teacher of the Year at Desert Sage in 2015-2016 for my dedication to my students and school.
There is so much to learn and experience in fourth grade, I can't wait to get started! Your child will experience reading, math, writing, grammar, science, social studies, and some art this year. We will be focusing even more on our school's Learner Powers: Confident, Inquisitive, Perserverant, Problem-Solver, and Reflective. We will use these Learner Powers every day in our lessons (in class or virtually), in the lunchroom, and even at recess time. These Learner Powers, along with a growth mindset, will help create a student who is in charge of their learning and who realizes that mistakes happen (they are a part of the learning process).
A little about my family:
My husband and I will be celebrating our 8th anniversary this year. He grew up in Aberdeen, ID and I grew up in Riverside, CA. We met through a mutual friend, dated long distance, and decided to get married, so I moved to Idaho! I absolutely LOVE it here! We have a daughter, Adilynn, who just turned 4 and a son, Brockton, who will be 1 at the end of September.
We love getting outside and staying active. We enjoy hiking, camping, paddle boarding and experiencing new places in Idaho.
