2020-21 Star Middle Health and Safety Plan

  • Updated August 2021

School/Facility:  Star Middle School                        Administrator: Tyler Pence

    Goals:

    1. Protect the health and safety of students and staff - physical, emotional, and mental.
    2. Consistent with local health authorities’ recommendations
    3. Guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students and schools
    4. Adaptability and flexibility with evolution of COVID 19
    5. Emphasize a culture of personal accountability and high integrity
    6. Encourage predictable patterns of behavior
    7. Limit Interactions and isolate groups as much as possible.  The more proactive and self-contained plans are the less impact a building will have when they have a positive case.  When there is a positive case does the plan and effective implementation of the plan result in remote learning for an impacted classroom, grade, POD, school versus multiple schools and/or entire District.

Facility Strategies

  • Returning to Full-Time Learning Means:

    • All middle schools will need to meet the criteria and return to daily in-person learning at the same time.
    • In-person learning will occur Monday-Friday.
    • The mask requirement will remain in-place for the 2021-2022 school year with an opportunity to “Opt-Out”. “Opt-Out” Forms will be required to be filled out and exemption (XM) recorded in PowerSchool.
    • Continued focus on mitigating measures - hand hygiene, sanitizing and continuing to facilitate as much physical distancing as possible.
    • Six-feet of physical distancing will not occur when all students are back in the building.
    • Teachers at middle school and high school expected to deliver fully synchronous learning to students on quarantine/isolation.
    • If any middle school or high school needs to transition to full remote learning due to positive cases, clusters, or outbreaks in the two weeks prior to fourth quarter, then school district administration will evaluate whether the situation necessitates a delay to returning to full, in-person learning.
