Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Zoe Roberts and I am one of the Extended Resource Room teachers. This year I am teaching 6th-8th Reading, English, and Life Skills. I love working with my students and creating a space for them to feel safe, respected, and cared for.
This is my first year as a teacher, but it is my 5th year at Meridian Middle School in this class room. I graduated from The College of Idaho in 2016 with my Bachelor's degree in Anthropology/Sociology, and started working at MMS as a paraprofessional. I fell in love with the job, with the students, and the schedule and decided to get my teaching degree. This summer I graduated from BSU with my Master's in Teaching Special Education.
The following explain some of my core beliefs about teaching special education:
- What makes special education “special” is not necessarily who is taught or what is taught, but how it is taught.
- All students deserve the same respect, dignity and compassion their teachers wish for themselves.
- Motivation to learn should come from the teacher.
- All students can learn, even those with special needs.
