Meghan Stewart - Principal

My Why

I love working with our students, staff and families to create a positive and empowering learning community for all. After over 20 years in education, I am still excited to come to school every single day because I love learning and I want our students to love learning too.

My Background

After graduating from Regis College in Colorado, I completed a year of volunteer work and fell in love with teaching. I went to school and received a Master's in Teaching from the University of Portland, Oregon. I began my teaching career in the West Ada School District in 1993. I taught K, 1st, 2nd, and 4th Grade as well as being a Gifted and Talented Facilitator. After many years in the classroom, I knew I wanted to impact student learning in a different way, so I went back to school (again!) and completed my Educational Specialist Degree. I was at Meridian Middle School for 4 years as an Assistant Principal and came to serve at Summerwind STEM Academy in fall of 2020. I am lucky to work every day with the best students and staff in the district.

My Interests

Originally from New York, I grew up all over the country. I came to Idaho in 1993 and it has been home ever since. I am a proud mom of four amazing daughters. My husband, David, and I love the outdoors (especially the mountains), working on our house and spending as much time we can with the girls. Family is everything to me. I also love to read, bake, travel, crochet and then read some more!
