Hello parents! A few items coming up:
We are heading into a project-based learning (PBL) activity next week, molding fossils. One of the items each student will need for the activity is craft clay to make the mold to form the fossils from plaster. Homework #6 this week will be to bring some craft clay from home for the PBL. We should be starting the activity by Tuesday and working on it throughout the week.
School conferences will be October 20th and 21st. My conferences are student driven which we will begin preparing for by the end of the week. Students will be rating their behavior and academic progress this year, and sharing these ratings with parents. Conference time will also be used to form SMART goals that we will commit to for the remainder of the school year. I will send out details of conference expectations and a grading rubric next week. Please sign up for conference time slots here: Mr. Clark's SignUpGenius.
At months end, 4th grade will begin a culminating PBL activity that will run to Fall break. The PBL will be a demonstration of student understanding on material this quarter. The premise of the PBL is to answer the essential question: How do changes over time affect planning for Idaho's future? Since we aren't allowed to have group gatherings at school yet, the class will be sharing-out their ideas/answers to the essential question through TEAMs and on this class webpage.
I welcome all questions, thank you!
