Mrs. Shari Setter

I am new to Ponderosa this year.  I am excited to be supporting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program.  I will be working with Brittany Haines in the mornings.

I grew up with a profoundly deaf brother, however he passed away in 1997, so I have not had been around the deaf for a very long time.  Last summer I got to see my former sister-in-law, and it felt good to communicate with her again.  My ASL is weak, but I am eager to relearn all that I have lost over the years.

I am passionate about working with students who struggle to learn.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwest Nazarene University in 2013 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education.  I completed my Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Math from Walden University in December, 2015.

I am married and have 5 adult children; 2 boys, both with Autism Spectrum Disorders and 3 daughters, 1 with cognitive impairments.   My husband and I are active members in our church family and enjoy helping with Challenger Baseball.  We are becoming involved with Special Olympics Idaho and are trying to help re-start the local TOPSoccer program, which has been on hiatus for a couple years.

Due to my schedule, it is best to contact me via email at setter.shari@westada.org.
