I LOVE to travel and I LOVE National History Day!!

I have organized six trips abroad with students.  So far, students from Renaissance H.S. have come with me to Italy and Greece (2013), Belize (2014), London, Paris, Heidelberg, Salzburg, Vienna, Munich, Dachau, Prague, and Berlin (2015), and England, France, and Spain (2017), England, France, Switzerland, and Germany (2018).  I anticipate plannning another trip for 2020 that cuts out the middle man and allows us to have more time (and money) as well as more fun, in Europe.  Do shoot me an email if you are interested.

This will be my fourth year doing National History Day and I have found it to be a simply amazing medium through which students can showcase their research skills.  Students are not required to participate but are greatly encouraged to do so.  This last year we took 20 kids to nationals at the University of Maryland, and two students, Abi Carper and Sammi Kidder, placed FOURTH in the nation.  WOWSERS! This last spring we had 150+ kids participate at the local level, 40 students compete at state, and 20 students place first or second at the state competition. I'd encourage students to consider competing (and their parents to encourage their kids).  It really looks great on a college resume, and can be a lot of fun.

I started teaching at Renaissance High School its second year.  It is a wonderful place, with wonderful staff and students.
