Click here for a song about learning Japanese.

Welcome to Japanese Studies in the West Ada School District.  Classes are delivered both in person and via the IEN network to district locations.

My name is Dale Garrard.  I've been teaching Japanese at Centennial High School since 1996, but I am also endorsed by the great state of Idaho to teach English and Psychology, and to work as a 6-12 administrator.

Oh- extra credit for finding this obvious easter egg.  All you have to do is watch Risa's video, and hand shows you like the best from her description and why.  Click here for Risa's video.

However, you lose the points if you tell anybody about this.

  • Japan Trip this Spring!!!

I'll be offering opportunity to travel to Japan with a school group this next June.  We'll have a meeting to gauge interest sometime in the next few weeks.

Here is our associated program's website.  It answers a lot of general questions, so please surf through it.

NPJ Logo     There's also a brief video in there somewhere of me describing the program from a teacher's standpoint. I've linked it here, if you are interested.

  • University in Japan?

Interested in going to university in Japan?  Here's a guide.

Also, this website is worth a look. It's angle is that it's now cheaper to get a Bachelors Degree in Japan than it is in the States, even promising you can do it without student loans, for about $5K a year. If an international education is something you might consider, look this over with your parents.  I don't have any experience with it so I can't vouch for anything, but it was passed on to me from our career counseling center here at CHS.
