    • Canned Food Drive Contest - Send in dry/canned food all this week.  The grade level with most items wins a movie party!

    Collaboration Update - 
     We discussed common assessments for reading.  We also determined who would be progress monitored bi-monthly be sure every student is showing growth.

    Reading:  How is music part of our everyday life?
        Skill: sequence of events
        Words to Know: her, now, our, she, today, would
        Grammar: commas in a series, statements
    Writing:  handwriting, adding details to sentences, planning and writing a paragraph
    Math:  addition strategy, making 10, to solve problems.
    Science:   Seasons Unit - wrap up seasons unit

    • We celebrated our reading goals with our First Quarter Reading Party.  It was a fun time to be proud of meeting the target.  Everyone is back to the start for 2nd quarter.

    Collaboration Update - 
     We analyzed and updated our reading data.  Leveled reading groups will be shuffled a bit as reading skills improve for many students.

    Writing:  Complete sentences, spacing between letters and words, and capitalization
    Math:  Introduce the math tool: number track.  Begin taking apart (taking away) numbers to subtract.

    • We have started leveled reading groups.  Your child should be bringing home activities/reading from these groups so you can see what they are working on.  In collaboration, we discussed students who qualify for additional intervention time in reading.  We will be keeping additional data on those students.

    Science:   Begin Seasons Unit. Intro Fall months and characteristics.

    • The team created leveled reading groups.  We also discussed who would teach which groups as well as what materials would be used for instruction.  Students will attend these groups for 30 minutes a day.  In addition, all students will still be receiving instruction in the core reading curriculum/standards in their regular classrooms.

    • This week the team discussed common reading assessments, worked on setting our grade level proficiency goals, and discussed our common math assessment.  We are working on finding a person and a time to focus on students with intensive math needs.
