This is my elevnth year teaching First Grade. I have taught 10 years of Kindergarten. I have taught Kindergarten, First and Second grades. I love teaching First Grade because it is a year of lots of reading and the children are so eager to learn. I enjoy working with the children to help them become independent readers. I have a passion for learning and hope to instill that love of learning in my students. I love my job!
I grew up in Boise and attended BSU. I married and had 4 wonderful children. I was a stay at home mom until my children were teenagers. Then I went back to BSU and graduated in Elementary Education. This is my 21st year of teaching. I love my job! It is such a pleasure to work with my sweet students and watch them grow.
I am now Grammy to 14 grandchildren who are 4.5 years to 16.5 years. I love and adore each of my sweet grandkids! I like to ask them about their school experience. They give me some great ideas. My oldest grandson starts his second year of high school in August. My oldest granddaughter is beginning her third year of high school. All of my grandchildren strive for excellence in school. My oldest granddaughter and my oldest grandson set a great example for their cousins. All my grandkids that attend school do their best and make their Grammy so proud! They are all so precious! All but one of my grandchildren will be in school this year!
I love spending time with my family. We have birthday parties all together and play games, dodge ball, some basket ball and have nerf wars or go swimming in the summer. We usually take a trip together and enjoy our time so very much. Last summer we rented a 3 story house in Salt Lake City and we had fun going to Lagoon, Hogle Zoo, the Aquarium, the Planetarium, toured Temple Square and went to Antelope Island. This summer we went on a family camping trip. We found a fabulous site, right here in Idaho. We have so much fun! I love how much support my 4 children give each other and me. The cousins love to have birthday parties. Me too! I also enjoy reading, painting, sewing, cooking, walking and yard work in the summer.
We had a family day the last Saturday before schools started. My kids and their spouses helped put together a Gazebo for my patio. The cooperation and camaradrie were amazing. We are all excited to put the Gazebo to good use for family time in the summer.
I love my job and try to make every child feel loved. I hope that all parents will plan on listening to their child read for 20 minutes every day to help me build strong readers. Reading is a life long skilll that requires practice. I need you to be my partner in this important effort. I know it will be a great year! Thank you!
