Mrs. Angie Elkington

My name is Angie Elkington. I am an Idaho native, a fourth generation Boisean, and a product of the West Ada School District. After graduating from Boise State University in 1993, I taught and coached for ten years at my alma mater, Meridian High School, where I was honored as the MHS Teacher of the Year in 2003.

While I was perfectly happy at Meridian High, I was encouraged to visit Eagle Academy in the spring of 2003. I cried all the way back to Meridian High, knowing it was time to leave the place I loved, the only high school I’d known for the previous 17 years, as a student, coach, and teacher. EA continues to provide me with the most rewarding teaching experiences, and I cannot imagine teaching anywhere else. My belief that all students are capable of success regardless of their past is reaffirmed every day. This is my home!

From an early age, my parents taught me to love family, work hard, live honestly, stand up for my beliefs, follow my passions, remain positive in the face of adversity, and believe in myself. The two greatest influences in my teaching career are my mother, an early childhood teacher of 36 years and the very best teacher I know, and my younger brother who faced many struggles in school (and in life). Because of his hardships, I have a great love and compassion for students who deal with such personal challenges. I am married to a good man who works hard to provide for our family, and together we have two boys, who also attend West Ada schools. They are the loves of our lives! Additionally, I am a somewhat recent breast cancer survivor. Before that challenge, I always thought I was tough, but now I know just how tough I am when I need to be and know can handle most anything.
