Welcome! The 2016-2017 school year is ahead of us. My name is Jana McGilvery and I am delighted to be your child’s teacher. I am enthusiastic and passionate about teaching! I believe each student has something to add to our classroom community. My personal goal is to help your child discover and use their talents, so I may guide them to reach their full potential.
A little about myself…I was born and raised in Idaho! I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) I enjoy spending time with my children, reading, and being outside. This will be my fifteenth year of teaching. I feel fortunate to be a part of your child’s school experience. I am delighted to be a part of Galileo STEM Academy.
I have planned a year full of hands-on/ minds-on science and math activities, exciting methods for exploring communities past and present, and a variety of reading activities to increase fluency, comprehension, and a love for reading! My hope is for my students to develop a natural love for learning. We will continue to build basic skills and ways in which to solve problems throughout the year.
We are partners in your child’s success. To help your child achieve academic and emotional success, I feel strongly that communication and support need to come from both school and home. I have an open-door policy. You are always more than welcome in the classroom of your child. Feel free to contact me at school anytime.
This is going to be an exciting year and I will do my best to make this year positive and productive for your child! I look forward to meeting with you and giving you more information about the year ahead at Back to School Night (on September 8th). I am looking forward to working together to ensure the success of your child.
