Degrees and Certifications:
BA Elementary Education MS Educational Technology
Hello, it is a pleasure to be your child’s teacher this year. My first name is Amy. I started at Joplin in 2002 as a 5th grade student teacher. The next 2 years I taught 3rd and 4th grades at Sunny Ridge Elementary in Nampa. This will be my 15th year back at Joplin. I am excited to teach 4th grade again this year. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Educational Technology. I strive to help students develop 21st century skills (creativity, innovation, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving) and will use a plethora of digital resources and tools to help students acquire them this year. My passion is to use technology in a way that allows for creation of new products and tasks that would not be conceivable without the technology. This year students will create many multi-media projects using Apple and PC tools that will allow learning experiences to connect to other disciplines and align with the common core. They will also participate in interactive learning opportunities that provide immediate feedback and initiate engagement. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their learning via student digital portfolios on the platform seesaw.com (with parent consent). This is a great way for them to reflect on their learning and demonstrate proficiency, creativity, and growth. My experiences using this last year was very positive. Students were excited to share their work, and proud of their creations. Visit my blog at basstechnologyflash.wordpress.com to learn more about the field of educational technology, and to view some sample digital projects prior students have created. Each month I will provide updates and educational links for parents and students to access via our class website. I am excited to get to know my students and am looking forward to an excellent school year. I will post most updates and needed information on this website. I will also send an email with a link whenever new information is added.
