Request a Quarter 2 Parent/Teacher Conference here.

This is my 20th year teaching mathematics, and my 16th here at Mountain View.  I have taught every class from the old days of Pre-Algebra, Alg I, Geometry, Algebra II, to the modern day classes of High School Math I, II, and III.  I have also taught Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and AP Statistics.  However, out of all these classes, I have come to really enjoy teaching Math in Modern Society and College and Career Readiness.  I have been teaching these two classes for the last 5 years and look forward to working with your family this year!!

My education background starts with having earned my Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the College of Idaho, then a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the Univeristy of Phoenix, and then a second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.  Yes, I began my teaching career in Physical Education, but was soon offered a mathematics position after administration discovered my knack for tutoring students with their math homework.  I then completed a certification in Secondary Math Education so I could continue to formally teach and share my love of math with students.  I enjoy math because it is like solving a puzzle and it is deeply rooted in all aspects of life and the workings of the universe.  I hope to share this enthusiasm with students so they can experience a higher level of understanding of mathematics and appreciation for its importance and usefulness, or at the very least, to become confident and successful in completing math requirements for graduation or other future endeavors.

I also have a background in athletics as a former college soccer player and former Boys Soccer Head Coach for Mountain View from 2007 to 2014.  I eventually retired from coaching to spend more time with family when my wife and I had two daughters.  Time seems to go by fast as my daughters are now 9 and 12.  My daughters love sports and going to high school football games, so hopefully we see you at some MVHS athletic events!!  Otherwise, maybe we will see you in the mountains or lakes because we love to camp, hike, and travel.

Cheers to a great school year, personal growth, and your success!!
