Mrs. Katie Mortimer

I am a local "Boise Girl" born and raised!! I graduated from Capital High School and then ventured all over the world (well, as much as possible!) and eventually went to College in Canada. From there, I worked with Wildland Firefighters in North Idaho and eventually came home to complete a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and I have been teaching ever since.

This is my 9th year at Pathways and I love it! As a little girl, I always told people "I want to be a wife, a mommy, and a teacher" And, I AM...All THREE! I am so thankful!! If I were to talk about my "Mission Statement" for to help students become the best version of themselves as they learn and grow. I cannot wait for another year full of learning!

In my time here, I have taught 8th, 7th, and 6th Grades in the areas of English, Study Skills, Life Skills, and Music. I am currently really enjoying working with our 6th Graders as they learn to navigate Middle School. I enjoy watching them discover who they want to be as we read books, have conversations, and do some hard thinking in Literature. I also have a lot of fun exploring music with them in the General Music Class as we all discover the importance of music for our whole-person health and growth.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy being with my husband, two daughters (Ella, 9; and Lilly, 4), and our extended family as often as possible. We like to camp, go on Jeep drives, swim, and bike ride. Additionally, I grew up snow skiing and am excited to get my girls started with it this winter! I have also recently begun crocheting, but it's a new skill, so I'm just learning. But I like it that way; it's good to be a life-long learner, reader, and person-in-progress!
