Dear Fourth Grader and Family,
Welcome to fourth grade! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I would like to share some information about myself and the upcoming year.
My husband Tom and I have lived in Boise for 27 years. We have a Cardigan Corgi Marta, a cat MauMau, and a Springer Spaniel puppy Daisy…and boy does she “spring”! We enjoy hiking in the foothills, walking along the Boise River, and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. This summer we are headed back to the German and English countrysides. Back home, you will frequently find me reading historical fiction or a good mystery and working in my garden.
I am looking forward to meeting you all at school on Friday, August 4th from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. to drop-off your supplies and backpacks so that Monday you will be ready to begin another great year. Our school calendar and supply list are available on the school district website at www.westada.org/Pioneer under our school’s home page. I look forward to having a great year with your student and value your involvement in our classroom.
This year we will be learning about Idaho history, populations and ecosystems, space, and magnetism/electricity in science. We will be reading fiction and nonfiction pieces from a variety of trade books and publications. Students will have the opportunity to read at home from a variety of genres and share their books with our class during “Book Talk”. We will create many exciting art projects in each subject. We’ll even throw in a bit of singing and dancing - so, make sure to bring your singing voices and your dancing shoes...most importantly, students will need a sense of humor!
We use whiteboards a great deal at school. It would be great if you could send an old rag to use as an eraser. Also, if you have a student who would benefit from a wiggle seat, please feel free to send one to school.
