Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Third Grade!!
Welcome to third grade at Pioneer School of the Arts! My name is Kim Micinski and I will be your child’s teacher. I am very excited for this school year and the opportunity to get to know you and your child. We finished last year in an unusual and, honestly, sad way. We are prepared to meet the 20/21 school year with its potential challenges. I look forward to meeting you at Meet and Greet on August 26th between 4:30 and 5:30pm. On that evening, we'll meet each other and drop off supplies for the year. In order to get the year off to a great start, I would like to let you know a little more about me as well as explain my expectations and plans for the year.
I graduated from Washington State University. I have taught for fifteen years. This will be my thirteenth year teaching here at Pioneer. I love teaching third grade!!! Third grade is a wonderful year full of responsibility, confidence and independence. I have had many amazing experiences so far and I can’t wait for the adventures we’ll have this year!
I grew up in Illinois, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Louisiana Tech University, and a Bachelor's of Education from Washington State University. My husband, Stan, daughter, Alexi, and I moved to Idaho 20 years ago. Stan works in the semiconductor industry. We have been married for 35 years. Alexi is 25 years old and works at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City as a research biologist. In my free time, I enjoy reading, skiing, biking, traveling, and hiking.
This year, I will work with your child to make sure that our classroom is a positive learning community filled with activities and lessons that are meaningful to his or her outside life. It is important to me that all students feel successful in my classroom. It is my belief that this success will motivate each child and instill them with a desire to learn.
The expectations I have for your child will help our classroom become a positive and safe learning environment. My expectations are that each student will:
Come to school on time.
Be a responsible and respectful member of the class.
Always try his or her best.
Come ready to learn and have fun!
This school year, I will help your child reach his or her potential academically and socially. I also plan to teach your child organization and responsibility. I will follow the common core as well as integrate various forms of the arts to enhance the curriculum. It is extremely important to me that each and every student improves and reaches his or her goals this school year. I plan to use various methods to measure your child’s development and guarantee they are making progress and meeting their goals in every subject area. The students will get the chance to experience many fun projects that relate to our curriculum! As third graders, they will get to build a community, learn to multiply and divide, explore fractions, do cursive and many other exciting things!
See you in August! Our first day of school is August 27th. We are going to have a wonderful year in third grade together!
