Mrs. Tammy Mitchell

Dear Families,

Welcome to third grade at Pioneer School of the Arts! My name is Tammy Mitchell and I will be your child’s teacher. I am very excited for this school year and the opportunity to get to know you and your child. In order to get the year off to a great start, I would like to let you know a little more about me as well as explain my expectations and plans.

I graduated from the George Fox University in 1984. This will be my 12th year teaching here at Pioneer. I have had an amazing experience so far and I can’t wait for the adventures we’ll have this year!

This year, I will work with your child to make sure that our classroom is a positive learning community filled with activities and lessons that are meaningful to his or her outside life. It is important to me that all students feel successful in my classroom. It is my belief that this success will motivate each child and instill them with a desire to learn.

The expectations I have for your child will help our classroom become a positive and safe learning environment. My expectations are that each student will:

  • Come to school on time
  • Be a responsible and respectful member of the class
  • Always try his or her best
  • Be honest
  • Come ready to learn and have fun!

This school year, I will help your child reach his or her potential academically and socially. I also plan to teach your child organization and responsibility. I will follow the common core as well as integrate various forms of the arts to enhance the curriculum. It is extremely important to me that each and every student improves and reaches his or her goals this school year. I plan to use various methods to measure your child’s development and guarantee they are making progress and meeting their goals in every subject area.

The students will get the chance to experience many fun projects that relate to our curriculum! As third graders, we will learn cursive, multiplication, division, fractions, build a community, put on a play, build an invention, and many other exciting things!

If you have any questions or concerns email me at Mitchell.tammy@westada.org. You can find lots of valuable information like supply lists, newsletters, and calendars at www. westada.org/Pioneer.

We are going to have a wonderful year in third grade together! I hope you all have an awesome summer filled with relaxation and fun! I will see you in August.

                               Sincerely,

                               Mrs. Tammy Mitchell
