This is a reminder that our Instrumental Music Parent Orientation is tomorrow night, Tuesday September 11, at 7:00 PM in the RMHS Auditorium. All band, orchestra, and color guard students and at least one parent/guardian are expected to be in attendance. Most of the material covered will apply to everyone, with the exception of details for specific events in this year’s calendar. The meeting will be one hour and will cover a significant amount of detailed information designed to illuminate what you can expect from the year for your student and how we can work as a team to ensure their success. My schedule and obligations are such that scheduling a time for a make-up meeting is unrealistic, so please make your best effort to attend. The agenda will include:

    1. Philosophy and goals of the department for your student
    2. Idaho Arts Standards
    3. How will grading, assignments, and tests work?
    4. What is Microsoft Teams, OneNote, FlipGrid, etc. and how will it be used? Why is it being used?
    5. Student Portfolios
    6. General event schedule and expectations
    7. Concert Attire & School Instruments
    8. Budget, Special events and fundraising

I look forward sharing our new direction and goals with each of you and answering your questions. Together, we can create an awesome experience for all of our students!
