    Happy Friday!

There is no newsletter this week with next week being the last week of school.  Almost all evidence pieces have been completed to date.  Next week we will have several fun school and grade-level year end activities along with students completing activities in our “Sailing Into 2rd Grade” unit.  Please see the list below for some of our activities next week.

    • Tuesday, May 28th – 5th Grade Reader’s Theater & 2nd Grade Rootbeer Float Party
    • Wednesday, May 29th – Field Day from 1:45 to 3:15
    • Thursday, May 30th – Cleaning out desks – Please make sure your student brings their backpack today.
    • Friday, May 31st – Talent Show from 10:30 to 11:45 and Family Picnic from 11:50 to 12:50, Early release at 1:25

Istation reports are in Friday folders.  Istation is the state mandated assessment that took the place of the old IRI.  Students were assessed on a monthly basis with Istation throughout the school year, and the report shows the growth of your child.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Almost all animal books are illustrated and published by students at this time.  These books will only be found on Seesaw.  I sent an email home yesterday with a link to access if you have not at this time.  There will also be a paper invite in your child’s Friday folder if there is not a parent already attached to the account.

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Friday!

We have had a really fun week in 2nd grade.  Students participated in their music program, and we had our field trip to the Idaho Botanical Gardens.  I have videos of the music program and pictures from the field trip that I will be posting to Seesaw this weekend.

If you have not accessed your child’s account, please email me.  Please keep in mind that students are publishing their animal books, and these will be added to Seesaw.  They will not be printed or emailed home.

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Friday!

Tonight is our school carnival!  I’ll be working our ticket counter, and I hope to see you there.  It is from 5 to 7:30 at Silver Sage.  There are many games, food, and an auction for our grade-level baskets.  Thank you to the parents who brought in items for our basket.

Next week is a REALLY busy week in 2nd grade!  We have our music program on Wednesday, May 15th at 9:30.  Then, we have our Idaho Botanical Garden field trip the next day on Thursday, May 16th.  We will be learning about habitats at the Garden and then eating lunch at the nearby park before returning to Silver Sage.

PLEASE remember to fill out the quick form we have sent out about sack lunches on the last day of school.  I have to turn that number into the cafeteria on Monday because they will be putting in their last food order.

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Friday!

We have had a fun day in 2nd grade by going outside and conducting a science experiment.  We used bubbles to determine a hypnosis and learn about wind!  I will be posting pictures on Seesaw later today for everyone to see.

Our school carnival is next Friday, May 10th.  The PTO is asking each grade-level to contribute items to auction off in a basket.  They have assigned 2nd grade a Chocolate Lover’s Basket.  Please see the information sheet in Friday folders for more information.  If you are able to contribute, we would greatly appreciate it.

The last day of school is also fast approaching.  We will be having a school-wide picnic that day.  The cafeteria will only be having sack lunches.  The last food supply order will be two weeks prior to the picnic.  We have created a quick survey form to let us know if your child will need a sack lunch that day or if you will provide lunch.  Please see the note in Friday folders or use the link below.

    Have a great weekend!

    Good afternoon,

I cannot believe it is almost May.  We only have a few more weeks left of school, but lots of things to continue to cover in the classroom.  Many students are starting to get spring/summer fever with the beautiful weather and are having difficulties focusing and paying attention in class.  You might have heard that students were working on earning extra recess, and also some fun year-end activities.  Some of these may not happen if students continue with these behaviors, and we cannot work through our classroom activities in a timely and respectful manner. I will keep you posted on how this is working in the classroom.

Permission slips are in Friday folders for our last field trip to the Idaho Botanical Gardens on Thursday, May 16th.  I need these permission slips returned by Wednesday, May 1st so I can determine how many sack lunches to order from the cafeteria.  If you would like to join us on the field trip we are allowed a few free volunteers with student admission.  After those spots have been taken, there is a small charge to join us.  If you would like to be a volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible.

    Happy Friday!

We started graphing in math this week and many of the students have been enjoying it along with asking many comparative questions.  Today we took our first quiz and will be working with money next week.

Friday folders are brimming with student artifacts.  If your child would like to pick one to change out their tile on our Student Display Board, then please return one to me on Monday in the Friday folder.

Our school carnival is fast approaching.  Please see the flyer in your child’s Friday folder.  I have also added a few pictures from our field trip to Seesaw.  We had a lot of fun!  Students are excited for our next one in May.

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Friday!

I wanted to let you know that I have a few days that are coming up that I will not be in the classroom. They will be mainly half-days that I am not in the classroom. Our school leadership team is in the process of our Highly Reliable Schools Certification this month.  Also, my father-in-law continues to improve from our family emergency in March; however, there are follow up appointments that I need to take him to.  If you have any questions, I am always available by email.

Our field trip next week is on Tuesday, April 16th.  We will be eating an early lunch before leaving for the Watershed.  You are welcome to send in a snack for when we return for your child.  Mrs. Przybylski and I will be letting the students have a short recess and snack before continuing with the school day.

We finished up our large math computation unit today and will start data representation next week.  Students who are not proficient in computation will continue to receive additional support in their intervention group.

Our last field trip will be on Thursday, May 16th to the Idaho Botanical Gardens.  We will be leaving around 10:20 and returning around 2.  There is a park near the Botanical Gardens that we will be eating our lunch at.

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Friday!

Thank you for returning the field trip permission slips so quickly.  I have all permission slips and we are set for our field trip on Tuesday, April 16th.  Please see the newsletter for more information on the field trip and volunteers.

We will have a second field trip in May to the Idaho Botanical Gardens.  More information will come home at the beginning of May for this field trip.

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Thursday!

I cannot believe that it is Spring Break already.  Students worked and played hard today to finish up assessments before the break.  We finished our weighing and balancing unit and will be heading into economics after the break.  We are also half-way through our last math computation module.

On April 16th, we will be having a field trip to the Boise Watershed.  Like the newsletter mentions, field trip permission slips are coming home today. Please see the attached picture for what information needs to be filled out. This is the same form that is used for all field trips which is why you see some information for overnight stays. Please fill out all the information in the bottom section including if the lunch will be provided by parents or students. This is the information I will use for ordering sack lunches from the cafeteria for that day. More information on parent volunteers and trip details will be coming home the week after spring break.

Mrs. Przybylski and I chose to not send homework home over the break.  We will send home the weekly homework packet on Monday, April 1st.

    Have a great Spring Break!

    Happy Friday!

It was great to be back in the classroom today with the kiddos.  I loved all the hugs and “I missed you.”  I was able to grade everything I took home with me this week when I was sick.  Most of these papers should be coming home in Friday folders today.  I have not been able to enter the grades in PowerSchool, but I will by the end of the weekend.

If you would like your child to receive dental sealants from the dental clinic that will be at SSE, forms need to be returned by March 19th.  Also, picture forms are in Friday folders.  Pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 20th.

    Have a great weekend!
