BA Elementary Education, math endorsement

Mrs. Ahlstrom

My Why

I have always had an inquisitive mind, questioning and always trying to understand the how and why of all things I encounter. My “teaching why” is to ignite a passion for students to begin to understand how the world works through physics and mathematical patterns. I work hard to introduce large concepts in ways that elementary students can understand. My hope is that as I teach, I can plant a seed of understanding that students can look back on as their science education becomes more complex. My favorite phrase kids say is, "Wow, it’s like magic.” I respond, “but it’s real!”

My Background

I moved to Idaho in the 5th grade so I consider myself an Idaho native. I graduated from Boise State and followed my husband’s job to Arizona where I furthered my education at Arizona State. After a quick 10 years and 2 children, we moved back to Idaho where my husband began working at Hewlett Packard. The warm weather during the winter in Phoenix was wonderful, but we missed the seasons and being around family. We have 2 grown children, a daughter who is a pharmacist and a son who is a physician assistant, specializing in psychiatry.

My Interests

A lot of my interests center on my family. We like to have theme dinners, get together and play escape room games, make homemade pizza, and watch Marvel movies. I love to watch hockey and have season tickets to the Steelheads. I am interested in photography and gardening (Mrs. C is such a great inspiration). I live each day reminded that, Every Day is a Gift. I believe in finding the best in each person I meet and treating all humans with kindness and compassion.
