Being involved in physical activities changed my life. As an athlete, I gained such appreciation for what the body can do and how good movement makes me feel. My love for all things active copuled with my love for children lead me to my career in physical education. I truly have the BEST job in the school. Developing relationships while teaching students skills to be physically active for a lifetime brings me great joy. I like for students to focus on fitness and fun - exercise and movement should, above all, be enjoyable.
I have lived in Boise since I was 11 years old. I attended Boise State University and have a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Physical Education, a master’s degree in Education, Curriculum, and Instruction with an emphasis in Physical Education pedagogy, and I recently obtained my personal trainer certificate. I am truly passionate about the benefits that can be obtained through movement and physical activity. One of my main passions is jumping rope. I have been the Head Coach of the Summerwind Skippers for 10 years and before that time, I was a competitor and team member. I've been part of this group since 1995 and have had many adventures! Highlights include competing in Australia, Belgium, and South Korea, being a part of the documentary JUMP!, and competing on America's Got Talent (2011). I love that I can bring this special skill to students at Summerwind.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, running (I often run team relays!), reading (I love historical fiction), doing puzzles (1000 peices or more!), lifting weights (my garage is my gym!), jumping rope (obviously!), and travel (my favorite place I've visted is Austraila and Portugal). I love spending time with my daughter and husband and our pets - a dog, Max and a cat, Poppy. :)
