Mrs. Cathy McClendon

I am the mother of four adult children, who all traveled through the public education system.  All four of my children have graduated from college, so I have a mother's perspective on what the educational road looks like after fifth grade. This knowledge has served me well in the classroom to help prepare my students for their next step in their academic journey.

I attended both the University of Oregon and Sonoma State University.  I have taught second to sixth grade classes, in both California and Idaho.  I have taught in the West Ada School District for fourteen years and I am starting my twelfth year at Eagle Hills Elementary School.

When I am not teaching in my classroom, I enjoy hiking, kayaking in lakes, and riding my mountain bike in the foothills. My husband and our two dogs accompany me on these adventures. I love being physically active and that helps me keep up with my two young granddaughters.
I am passionate about teaching and I have always thought that I have the best job in the world.  It is always a priority in my classroom, to create a safe learning environment that your child looks forward to coming to everyday.   Earning their trust and respect, opens the flood gates for learning.
I am eager to get started on a fantastic year in fifth grade.  Welcome to room 18!
